UP Journalism Club (UPJC) Visual Rethink (2022)

As UP Journalism Club (UPJC)'s Vice President for Publicity for AY 2022-2023 and AY 2023-2024, I led the revamping of the overall visual identity of the organization.
I personally felt the UPJC's need to set itself apart from other similar organizations by hearkening back to its militant and progressive beginnings as a gesture towards the radicalization of the organization's branding.
As everything started with a pen, paper, and the minds of the founding luminaries that established the organization almost seven decades ago, I gave a lot of emphasis on minimalism with the occasional juxtaposition of rough paper textures to depict how UPJC made it through the ups and downs of the Philippine history and how journalism thrives when it remains adversary to power:
"[Pen and paper] has been UPJC’s signature logo since time immemorial. For this term’s brand identity concept, I seek to take root from our past and passed tradition. Through what has been written with pen and paper we shall be able to foresee what lies ahead for the future of the organization and of journalism."
This visual rethink has been in effect on both internal and external communications for both online (web, socials) and print media since the third quarter of 2022.
About the organization: UPJC is a nonstock, nonaligned academic organization that houses a pool of young writers and creatives working towards someday becoming journalists and movers of the media industry. The organization is based in the University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines.
